- 10 AM – Official opening of the Eco Energy Fair, by Council Leader Bill Randall
Council Leader Bill Randall will open the Fair, with a brief explanation of what the new Green Council intends to do in regards to energy. - 10:30 AM – From the Eco Energy Fair to the Eco Technology Show, by Doly Garcia & Michael Yeoman
After organizing the Eco Energy Fair for the last three years with a dedicated team of volunteers, Doly Garcia is joining the team that will run the Eco Technology Show. This is a big event that will put Brighton on the map of the big green shows in the UK, that will take place in the new AMEX Stadium in June 2012. - 11AM – The Rampion Offshore Wind Farm – gearing up for pre-application consultation, by Chris Tomlinson
Chris Tomlinson is the Development Manager for the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm. E.ON is seeking to develop the Rampion Project to deliver up to 700MW of power and generate the domestic electricity needs for around 430,000 homes (annual average equivalent) – that’s around two thirds of all the homes in East Sussex, West Sussex and Brighton & Hove. Chris will introduce you to the project and provide an update on the development process to date, while highlighting the up and coming pre-application consultation process and how you can get involved. - 12PM – Shrinking your Energy Consumption, by Geoff Clifton
With global warming a reality and continuous rises in gas and electricity prices, how can you minimise both your carbon footprint and financial exposure to these escalating costs? Geoff, from VO4HOME, will discuss some of the options currently available and where the benefits lie for you. - 1PM – The Brighton Energy Co-op, by Will Cottrell
Brighton Energy Co-op develops community-owned green power in Brighton and Hove. With four sites secured and more in the pipeline BEC is launching a community share offer in November 2011 to raise £500,000 for solar systems throughout the city. Investors will receive an initial 4% return on their investment; BEC also plans to launch carbon reducing and solar projects in the near future. - 2PM – Financing Energy Efficiency and the Green Deal, by David Porter
The Government’s Green Deal will occupy the centre stage of its plans to reduce the environmental impact of buildings in the UK. Starting in Autumn 2012, there is already much talk of this new financing mechanism that will enable homeowners, landlords and tenants to benefit from energy efficiency measures. Bring yourself up to date with how the Green Deal will work and how you may be able to benefit. - 3PM – Creating a Zero-Energy Home, by Steve McLean.
Steve will discuss the engineering, environmental, financial and regulatory aspects of creating a zero energy house – one powered entirely by renewable energy with zero net consumption of gas and electricity from the grid.
