We want to bring together the collective skills and creativity in Brighton & Hove to evolve a sustainable low energy future reflected in an Energy Descent Action Plan. - Brighton Energy Cooperative
Brighton Energy Co-op is an opportunity to get involved with the first solar co-operative in the UK. Our first project is to raise £350,000 to install a 100kw solar system in Brighton and Hove. Covering an area of 700 square metres, the panels will generate some £1.65m. The money will be raised by selling shares in the co-op; profit will then be split between co-op members and investment in new low-carbon projects.

We provide the public with information about local and global concerns, supporting choices which prioritise peace, people and planet, throughout daily life.

Since the mid-1970’s, Hooker has consistently produced work which traverses recognised categories within art and interdisciplinary research. These often concern aspects of meteorology and astronomy and combine mechanical and electrical power with natural elements such as wind, water and sunshine to generate audible and visual movement within sculptures.

March 2011 saw Cocoon exhibiting our latest heat recovery products at the Chartered Institute of Housing Conference at Brighton where Green MP Caroline Lucas gave a talk on ‘Greening your Business’ and Oliver Kamm gently reminded us all, very eloquently, that house prices are going to fall by 30% this year. EVRS has developed a new approach to waste recycling. The EVRS approach combines a well understood hydrolysis process with proprietary additives and catalysts to rapidly convert all organic matter into pure cellulose. The outputs from this process can either be utilised as a basis for products such as construction boards or converted to ethanol. Most importantly, the process leaves nothing to landfill and being hermetically sealed, emits no discharges.

Duncan Baker-Brown of Baker-Brown McKay built an eco-house in six days as part of Channel 4′s programme ‘Grand Designs Live’. THTKB was an innovative project to design and construct live on television a highly sustainable domestic property using a combination of ‘offsite’ innovative and prefabricated building systems and materials. The resulting house is thought to be the first building in the UK to achieve an A+ energy performance certificate. - VO4HOME
